Ghulam Ahmed Bilour is a Pakistani politician who was a member of the Pakistan National Assembly from 2008 to 2018. He also served as federal minister for railways and federal minister for local government and rural development.
Biography
He was born on 25 December 1939. He is from Peshawar, KPK. He belongs to a Well-known business family. He is famous as Haji Sahib in Peshawar.
Education
Bilour went to Khudad Model School in Peshawar and Edwardes College.
Political career
Gulam Ahmed Bilour started his political career by joining the election campaign of Fatima Jinnah in 1965 in Pakistan’s presidential election.
Later, he joined the Awami National Party (ANP). He was elected by the Senate of Pakistan in 1975.
He contested for a seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan from Peshawar but was unsuccessful and defeated by Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao. Again, in 1988, in elections, he reran for the seat and was elected to the national assembly. It was his First Win.
For the second time in the 1990 Pakistani general elections, he was re-elected from Peshawar to the Pakistan national assembly. In this election, he defeated Benazir Bhutto.
From 1991 to 1993, he was appointed the federal railways minister.
In the 1993 general election of Pakistan, he contested for a seat from Constituency NA-1, Peshawar, but was defeated by Syed Zafar Ali Shah
In the 1997 general elections of Pakistan, he again contested for a seat from Constituency NA-1, Peshawar and was elected to the national assembly.
He didn’t run for a seat in the national assembly in Pakistan’s 2002 general elections.
He ran for a seat in the National Assembly in the 2008 general elections of Pakistan from Constituency NA-1, Peshawar and was elected to the National Assembly. He was appointed as Federal Minister for local government and Federal Minister for rural government.
In the general elections of Pakistan in 2013, he contested for a seat in the National Assembly from Constituency NA-1, Peshawar, but Imran Khan defeated him. He ran for the seat in a byelection 2013 and successfully won it.
In the General Elections of Pakistan, he ran for a seat in the National Assembly from Awami National Party constituency NA-31, Peshawar-V. He lost the seat to Shokat Ali, from Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, by gaining 42476 votes.
In the 2022 General Elections of Pakistan, he contested for a seat in the National Assembly from Awami National Party from constituency NA-31, Peshawar, but was defeated. He gained 32252 votes and lost his seat to Imran Khan.

Bilour has been jailed many times throughout his political career. Most notably, in 2007, he was accused of the murder of Syed Qammar Abbas as the murderer was charged in the murder case of Bilour’s son. (reported by Dawn)

Bilour offered $100,000 for the killing of the person who made an anti-Islam film named The Innocence of Muslims. He also asked the Taliban and Al Qaeda for the killing of a filmmaker.
