ISLAMABAD: Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, declared on Tuesday that despite many obstacles, every effort has been taken to guarantee a smooth and tranquil electoral process on Election Day throughout the nation. According to a press release from PM Office Media Wing, he was speaking with a Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) group that had visited him. The trip was led by former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The gathering was a part of the COG’s outreach to different stakeholders before the general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024. Welcoming the COG group, the prime minister expressed Pakistan’s pride in upholding its Commonwealth membership obligation by allowing impartial foreign observers to attend the general elections.
He also emphasized that the interim administration had done its part to oversee daily operations in the state and establish a favorable atmosphere before the elections. And he said that now it was the Pakistani people’s chance to use their democratic right to vote. I hope Ebele has success. Conveying the best wishes of Patricia Scotland, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Jonathan thanked the acting prime minister. To watch the electoral process, he said, the COG delegation would be visiting different polling places across the nation.
