Introduction:
NA-12 Upper Kohistan-cum-Lower Kohistan-cum-Kolai Palas Kohistan is a constituency in the National Assembly of Pakistan, encompassing the entire districts of Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Kolai-Palas. Previously designated as NA-23 (Kohistan) from 1977 to 2018, the constituency’s name was modified to NA-11 (Kohistan) following the delimitation in 2018. After the subsequent delimitation in 2022, it is now recognized as NA-12 (Kohistan-cum-Lower Kohistan-cum-Kolai Palas Kohistan).

Popularity Reason: Kohistan, a Persian term, translates to “Land of Mountains” (“koh” for “mountains” and “istan” for “land of”). The region features towering mountains with high peaks, crisscrossed by many deep and narrow valleys. The Karakoram Highway follows the Indus River, extending up to the border between Kohistan and the Diamer district in Gilgit-Baltistan.

There were 17 Candidates participating in general election 2018 from NA 11 Kohistan-Cum-Lower Kohistan-Cum-Kolai Pallas Kohistan constituency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Afreen Khan MMA has lead the election by receiving 15859 votes by defeating Dost Muhammad Shakir IND got 14148 votes, and other candidates of NA 11.
