Introduction:
NA-240 Karachi South-II was a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan. It mainly comprised the historic Saddar Town neighborhood of Karachi. After the 2018 delimitations, its areas have been divided among the constituencies of NA-246 (Karachi South-I) and NA-247 (Karachi South-II), with NA-247 getting the larger piece. The Garden Subdivision was equally distributed between the two. After 2023 Delimitations this constituency revived.

Popularity Reason: Aram Bagh, meaning “Garden of Relaxation” in Urdu, and formerly known as Ram Bagh, is a historic neighborhood in the center of Karachi, Pakistan, centered around the Aram Bagh Park. This area boasts a significant number of listed and protected heritage buildings, many of which are well-maintained.
Historically, the Ram Bagh area of Karachi has been abundant in water, with numerous wells dug to supply water to the surrounding residents. According to Hindu belief, it is believed that Hindu avatars Ram, Sita, and Lakshman stayed at this location on their way to the Hinglaj pilgrimage after spending 14 years in a jungle. This led to Ram Bagh becoming a place of pilgrimage for Hindus.

In the 2018 general election for NA-247 Karachi South, various candidates from different political parties and independents contested for the seat. The notable candidates included Arif ur Rahman Alvi, Syed Zaman Ali Jafri, Muhammad Farroq Sattar, Muhammad Hussain Mehnati, Abdul Aziz Memon, Aftab Hussain Lakho, Muhammad Jibran Nasir, Fauzia Kasuri, Syed Mansoob Hassan, Abdul Habib, Abdul Wahab, Abdul Jalil Khan, Ali Nawab, Deedar Ali, Ghazia Ali, Mati ur Rehman, Naeem Uddin, Nasreen Jalil, Javid Iqbal Khan, Nadir Khan Jamali, Afnan Ullah Khan, Raj Kumar, and Fauzia Aqeel Lari. Dr. Arif ur Rahman Alvi secured victory, ultimately becoming the Member of the National Assembly (MNA) for NA-247 in Karachi South. Doctor Arif ur Rahman Alvi emerged victorious in the 2018 general election and secured the position of Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from NA-247 in Karachi South. Following his election as the President of Pakistan and subsequent resignation, the constituency was left vacant. Consequently, a bye-election was conducted to fill the void in this constituency.
Aftab Hussain Siddique was elected M.N.A from NA-247 Karachi South-II in bye election held on 21-10-2018.
