Introduction:
Kohat is a parliamentary constituency in Pakistan that encompasses the entire district of Kohat. Previously designated as NA-14 Kohat from 1977 to 2018, it underwent a name change to NA-32 Kohat following the delimitation in 2018 and further became NA-35 Kohat after the delimitation in 2022.
From the early sixteenth century onward, the history of Kohat is intertwined with three prominent tribes: the Bangash, Banoori, and Afridi. These tribes seemingly established their settlements in the district during the 14th and 15th centuries. From the 16th to the 18th centuries, Kohat, as part of the Mughal Empire, was under the governance of the chiefs of these two tribes.
