Introduction:
NA-49 (Tribal Area-X) is a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan, including Ladha Subdivision, Makin Subdivision, Sararogha Subdivision, and Serwekai Subdivision of South Waziristan. The area is located between two rivers, with the Tochi River to the north and the Gomal River to the south. Historically, it was an autonomous tribal territory from 1893, distinct from both Afghanistan and the British-ruled empire in the subcontinent. The British faced persistent challenges in dealing with raids from the tribal areas, leading to frequent punitive expeditions from 1860 to 1945. South Waziristan was the largest agency in the FATA.
