Popularity Reason: Taxila holds significant archaeological importance in Pakistan, encompassing the remains of the Gandhāran city of Takshashila (), a crucial center of Vedic/Hindu and Buddhist learning dating from the sixth century B.C.E. to the fifth century C.E. In recognition of its historical value, Taxila was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site with multiple locations in 1980.
Adiala is a site where artifacts from the Soanian era (approximately 500,000 to 125,000 years Before Present) have been unearthed. Situated around 4 km from the town, the Central Jail Rawalpindi, commonly referred to as Adiala Jail, is also located in the vicinity.
