Introduction:
NA-9 is a constituency in the National Assembly of Pakistan that encompasses the entirety of Malakand district. Initially known as NA-35 from 1977 to 2018, it underwent a name change to NA-8 after the 2018 delimitation and was later re-designated as NA-9 following the 2022 Delimitation.
Malakand District is strategically positioned as a gateway to Bajaur, Lower Dir, Swat, and Bunair districts. Surrounded by mountains, once rich with diverse trees, they now appear barren. The Malakand Pass, connecting Mardan to Swat and Dir, is situated near a place called Dargai. In 1895 and 1897, this area witnessed intense battles between local Pashtun tribes and the British Army.
