On Panj Pir Manawan Road in the Khushab district, a Mazda vehicle crashed into a ditch, killing at least 14 people and injuring 12, according to officials on Saturday. A news release issued by Rescue 1122 stated that the truck was traveling from Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Naushera in Punjab at the time of the accident. According to District Rescue Officer Hafiz Abdul Rasheed, a brake malfunction was the reason for the collision. Pictures from the site indicate that the car had rolled over onto its side. Twelve individuals were hurt and 14 people died on the spot, according to Rasheed. Four individuals with minor injuries received on-site medical attention from rescue personnel. With “serious injuries,” the other eight were sent to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Naushera.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conveyed his sorrow over the incident and sympathized with the departed individuals’ families. He hoped for the injured people’s quick recovery as well. Serious traffic accidents are common in Punjab. When a passenger bus on the road near Pindi Bhattian caught fire in August 2023 due to an accident involving a pick-up truck carrying drums of diesel, at least eighteen persons were killed. Lax safety regulations, inadequate driver education, and deteriorating transportation infrastructure are the main causes of high-fatality traffic accidents in the nation. High fatality rates from single-vehicle accidents are prevalent because passenger buses and trucks are usually packed to capacity and seatbelt usage is uncommon.
