Last week, dozens of militants connected to the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group, went on the rampage throughout the province, storming police stations, blowing up railway tracks, and setting fire to nearly thirty vehicles. At least fifty people, including fourteen security personnel, died in various parts of Balochistan.
Following their commitment to eradicate terrorism in the province, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that 21 militants had been neutralized by security personnel during the following operations, according to the armed forces’ media wing and after examining the identity credentials of 23 individuals, the militants in Musakhail, a district bordering Punjab, opened fire on them.
Ayub Achakzai, Musakhail SSP, told Dawn, “We found 23 bullet-riddled bodies lying by a roadside.” An individual who had been shot in the legs had been retrieved from among the dead bodies, he continued. Along with setting fire to a toll plaza on the national highway, militants in Kalat also targeted two hotels, a Levies station, and the home of a tribal elder.
Nine individuals were injured in the gunfight, including Kalat Assistant Commissioner Aftab Lasi, while eleven people—four Levies officials and a police sub-inspector—lost their lives. Six bodies were found in the Kolpur region of Bolan. According to security sources, militants also shot and killed them.
