A blast at a large market near Surkhab Chowk in Balochistan’s Pishin district on Saturday resulted in 13 injuries, including two police officers and two women and two children dead, according to hospital officials. The attack is the most recent in a line of assaults on police officers and checkpoints, which have mostly occurred in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Following the TTP’s 2022 breach of a tenuous ceasefire agreement with the government and its threat to target security forces, attacks intensified. In a list of casualties released by Pishin Civil Hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr. Wakeel Sherani, two youngsters lost their lives in today’s explosion, while fourteen others were initially hurt.
According to a list released by the hospital’s executive director, Dr. Arbab Kamran, 13 of the injured were sent to the Quetta Trauma Centre, where a woman passed away from her wounds. The list showed that three injured people were receiving treatment, two had minor injuries, five were in critical condition, and two had been released from the Trauma Center.
Pishin City Station House Officer (SHO) Mujibur Rehman stated that the two police officers who were hurt were in severe condition. According to SHO Rehman, “it appears that the explosive material was planted in a motorcycle,” and three vehicles were harmed as a result. According to the official, the Bomb Disposal Squad and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) have arrived at the scene to gather information for an investigation.
PTV News, a state channel, reports that the explosion happened close to the Pishin deputy commissioner’s office. The incident happened a few days after a roadside explosion in the Noshki district injured two pedestrians. According to the police, the explosion happened while a convoy of Frontier Crops was passing by.
Three CTD officers and three passersby were hurt in an explosion in Pishin last month that was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). According to police officials, the strike was directed towards a CTD van that was transporting department employees. In a related event, that day in the Buleda area of Kech district, a soldier from the Frontier Corps South’s Quick Response Force was slain and seven others were injured.
Criticism is overwhelming.
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, condemned the explosion close to the Pishin police lines, according to Radio Pakistan. PM Shehbaz remarked, “Cowardly terrorists who attack young children do not deserve to be called humans,” expressing his profound anguish and sorrow over the sacrifice of young children in the blast.
The premier ordered the greatest medical care to be given to the injured police officers and other victims of the tragedy and hoped for their recovery. PM Shehbaz demanded that the individuals accountable for the event be found and handed severe penalties. In the fight against terrorism, he reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment.
Additionally, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased for the incident. President Zardari reaffirmed the determination to carry out operations against terrorists in a statement, saying, “Those responsible should be given exemplary punishment according to the law.”
For the departed and their families, he prayed. Mohsin Naqvi, the interior minister, expressed sorrow for the deaths of the youngsters and denounced the explosion “near the Police Lines.” In a statement, Naqvi expressed his condolences to the families of the children and stated, “This war [against terrorism] will continue till the terrorists and their enablers are eradicated.”
“Pakistan’s honor and to give the future generations a peaceful and safe Pakistan,” he emphasized as the reason behind the struggle. He expressed his prayers for the quick recovery of the injured and stated that the security forces and the country were united in the fight against terrorism. Sarfraz Bugti, the chief minister of Balochistan, also denounced the explosion and claimed that its perpetrators intended to destroy the tranquility in the region.
CM Bugti declared, “Such cowardly actions cannot diminish the courage of our security institutions.” With the public’s and the security forces’ assistance, we will totally eradicate this sore of terrorism, the chief minister promised. In his words, “Pakistan’s honor and to give the future generations a peaceful and safe Pakistan” were the main reasons for fighting.
Speaking on behalf of the provincial government, Shahid Rind lamented the “terrorist incidents in Pishin and Noshki” and expressed regret for the lives lost. According to Rind, “anti-state and anti-society elements do not deserve any concession.” He went on, “Terrorists are using innocent and sinless people as targets for their evil intentions.” The provincial health department was instructed by the spokesperson to give explosion victims the greatest medical care possible.
