The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that seven soldiers were killed after an improvised explosive device targeted a security forces vehicle in the Lakki Marwat district on Sunday. Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas (age 26) of Kasur District, Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir (age 50) of Skardu District, Lance Naik Muhammad Anwar (age 34) of Ghanchi District, Lance Naik Hussain Ali (age 36) of Ghizer District, Sepoy Asad Ullah (age 33) of Multan District, Sepoy Manzoor Hussain (age 27) of Gilgit District, and Sepoy Rashid Mehmood (age 31) of Rawalpindi District all “made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat (martyrdom)” according to the military’s media wing.
The ISPR declared that terrorists were being eliminated through “sanitization of the area” and promised that “the perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice.” The statement said, “[Pakistan’s] security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.” The media affairs department of the military announced that in two different operations on May 27, security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed 17 terrorists and injured another two.
During an operation in Tank District, “our troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, as a result of which ten terrorists were consigned to hell,” according to a news release from the (ISPR). Two terrorists were injured and seven were sent to hell by the security forces during another altercation that took place in the “general area [of] Bagh, Khyber District,” according to the ISPR.
