RAWALPINDI: According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a terrorist attack on a security forces position in the Mir Ali neighborhood of the North Waziristan province resulted in the martyrdom of seven soldiers, two of whom were officers. The subsequent clearance operation also resulted in the neutralization of six terrorists.
A group of six terrorists attacked a security forces position in the Mir Ali neighborhood of North Waziristan District early on March 16, 2024, according to the military’s media affairs department. After the first attempt at entry was thwarted by their forces, the terrorists drove a car packed with explosives into the post. They then carried out several suicide bombings, which caused a part of the structure to collapse and resulted in the shahadat (martyrdom) of five courageous sons of the country.
District Khyber resident Havildar Sabir, District Peshawar resident Sepoy Nasir, District Kohat resident Sepoy Raja, and District Abbottabad resident Sepoy Sajjad are among the martyrs of the first attack. Naik Khurshid is a resident of District Lakki Marwat. “Our troops, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Kashif, effectively engaged and killed all six terrorists during the conduct of the ensuing clearance operation,” the ISPR stated.
But, ISPR continued, “Lt Col Syed Kashif Ali, a 39-year-old Karachi resident, and Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar, a 23-year-old resident of District Talagang, led his troops from the front during the intense exchange of fire, and after fighting gallantly, they paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.” As per the media wing of the military, the purpose of the sanitization operation is to eradicate any potential terrorists from the area. The statement reads, “Our resolve to eradicate the threat of terrorism from Pakistan is strengthened by the selfless acts of our courageous soldiers.”
