China and Pakistan have pledged to strengthen their collaboration on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, according to an announcement made on Sunday. Vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress Zheng Jianbang and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar both made this statement. In The Gambia, the two had a meeting outside of the 15th Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), according to the Foreign Office (FO).
“Enhanced mutually productive ties through close economic cooperation” was stressed by both parties, according to the FO. The leaders of Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their strong strategic partnership. They further discussed the growing closeness between the Chinese National People’s Congress and the Pakistani Parliament. As per the statement, the conference resulted in both countries expressing their determination to enhance and promote their cooperation on CPEC projects. They stressed the importance of communication and mutual understanding for the peace and prosperity of both nations and also acknowledged China’s expanding ties with the OIC.
Additionally, Dar emphasized the significance of closer economic cooperation and coordination between China and Pakistan as well as Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s main problems. These statements were published by Radio Pakistan. Jianbang, in the meantime, reiterated China’s backing for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and growth. On the fringes of the conference, Dar also had a separate meeting with Turkiye Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, with whom he “discussed the strong bonds of friendship and commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in economic, trade, and defense sectors.”
Dar also met with Jeyhun Bayramov, the foreign minister of Azerbaijan. The FO claims that the two talked about enhancing bilateral cooperation in commerce, connectivity, energy, and interpersonal interactions while highlighting the significance of political discourse. Dar conveyed Pakistan’s desire to work with Azerbaijan on climate change and congratulated the country on winning the bid to host COP29. The FO stated, “He also valued Azerbaijan’s moral position regarding Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).”
