Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), has said that anybody engaged in “digital terrorism” and disseminating false information to create a rift between the general public and the armed forces will be subject to legal action. During a press briefing to update the media on the security situation in the nation, he made this statement at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
First and foremost, the law is the first line of defense against cyberterrorism. Regretfully, a lot of misinformation and propaganda, including altered photos and fake news, is spread on social media to confuse users, according to the top military spokesperson. However, the law is not acting in opposition to it. However, the military takes it extremely seriously, he added, threatening to take legal action against anyone involved in disseminating propaganda against the military, whether they are in Pakistan or outside.
During a briefing on counterterrorism measures, a military spokesman stated that 23,622 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) have been carried out this year, with 2,045 of those actions taking place in the last 15 days, leading to the death of 24 terrorists. He added that the army and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) carry out more than 100 IBOs per day.
Lt Gen Chaudhry referred to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” citing a government announcement from last week that stated the militant group had nothing to do with Islam. According to DG ISPR, “the armed forces are especially focused on the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.” He further stated that the fight against terrorism will not end until every single terrorist is destroyed.
Contribution to education and other sectors;
The army spokeswoman continued by characterizing the military’s involvement in education as an essential component of a nation’s progress. “Youth are also being given access to digital education,” he stated, highlighting that Balochistan students represent the nation’s future and that a scholarship program has been established just for them.
According to Lt Gen Chaudhry, in addition to their academic costs, they also cover the other costs incurred by the Balochistan students. He said, “In Balochistan, about 92 schools are being run for better education, and 19,000 people are receiving education from there.” In addition, the army founded three cadet colleges and 171 schools in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
He stated that the Pakistan Army had established free medical camps in various districts where free treatment was provided and both domestic and international businesses were engaged in numerous initiatives there.
Army affirms it is behind Kashmiris
The Pakistan Army is standing by the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, which marks the revocation of Article 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution to change the IIOJK’s political and constitutional status five years ago. Lt Gen Chaudhry made this saying. “We are aware that the region is in danger due to the inhumane lockdown, unlawful methods being used to alter the region’s demographics, and human rights violations that are against international law.”
He stated that to bring peace to the area, the Kashmir issue must be resolved by UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He declared that the Pakistan Army honors the martyrs of the Indian Ocean Jammu and Kashmir and supports the people of Kashmir in their fight against injustice on this day.
