ISLAMABAD: The chief secretaries of four provinces were asked to submit a report to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which has taken note of the caretaker governments’ support of development initiatives. According to an ECP spokesman who talked to APP, the caretaker governments are using advertisements for development projects as part of their campaign, which could have an impact on how free and transparent elections are conducted.
Giving an instance, he stated that the “Green Bus Service” initiative is being implemented in Sindh and made it clear that caretaker governments need to act legally.
The interim administrations are instructed to cease promoting any development projects until the general elections are held peacefully, according to a letter signed by the chief secretaries of every province and released by the ECP.
