LAHORE: The federal government, the Ministry of Information Technology, and the PTA were asked to respond to a petition over the nation’s Internet outage by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday. The high court bench ordered all parties to appear in person at the next court hearing through their agents after rendering a reserved decision on the petition against the Internet outage.
A directive was given by LHC Judge Shakil Ahmed, postponing the case’s next hearing until August 21. In his petition challenging the internet outage in Pakistan, a person claimed that there were unidentified reasons why the internet was running slowly in Pakistan. According to him, companies that deal with IT have been impacted by the internet outage.
The petitioner stated, “Pakistan’s IT sector is being destroyed while the world is advancing with modern technology.” He insisted that internet-based businesses were bringing in billions of rupees for Pakistani youth and companies and that the outage of the internet was inflicting serious losses.
To prevent the government from shutting down the internet in the future, the petitioner asked the court to declare the internet outage to be void.
