ISLAMABAD: In their goodbye statements, retiring senators pleaded for all political parties to come together and establish a common plan for the nation’s socioeconomic advancement and the restoration of true democracy, as they believed that these measures would be essential to the peace and prosperity of coming generations. Sen. Molvi Faiz Muhammad (JUI-F), bemoaning the Islamic countries’ lack of response to the Palestine and Kashmir crises, emphasized the importance of concentrating on foreign policy. In line with Islamic laws and values, he also demanded the establishment of true democracy in the nation. In the meantime, he sent a request to the recently formed government asking that it consider the problems facing the people of Balochistan and ask that action be taken to resolve them.
In his farewell speech, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad (JI) asked the Upper House to work to give provinces rights as per the constitution. He lauded the role of the 18th Amendment in the development of provinces. He urged all the political parties to bring internal democracy and promote leadership on a merit basis. He also stressed the political parties to work for the development and launch projects for the development of the country. Senator Mushtaq called for a dialogue between all political parties to bring the country out of the current crisis.
Senator Mushtaq also asked the incumbent government to take necessary measures to protect the natural beauty of Margalla Hills for the next generations. The problem of Pakistanis living abroad was brought up by Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt in his speech, and he encouraged the government to address it because they are a valuable resource for Pakistan.
He claimed that when Shahbaz Sharif was the Chief Minister of Punjab in 2013, the PML-N leader founded an organization that in five years handled almost 80,000 complaints from abroad. He called on all provincial administrations to set up these kinds of organizations in their areas to help Pakistanis living abroad. Senator Sana Jamali praised Shahbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto, and the Pakistan Army, in particular Shaheed General Sarfraz, for their contributions to the development of the province of Balochistan. I had the opportunity to speak in both the United Nations and the Upper House of Pakistan, she said, adding that women in Balochistan were enjoying rights on par with those in other provinces.
Sana Jamali claimed that over the previous five years, every senior senator in the Senate had given her their undivided support. She also praised the assistance that foreign embassies had provided to Balochistan during the floods. She asked all political parties to honor and completely support the nation’s institutions to further its growth. According to Senator Seemee Ezdi, as a member of the Climate Change Committee, she and the other members strive toward pollution control, water reservations, and other required measures.
