ISLAMABAD: Pakistan wished for the peaceful and speedy return of normality for the people of Bangladesh and expressed solidarity with them. A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, issued a statement saying, “The government and people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh, sincerely hoping for a peaceful and quick return to normalcy.”
She was also optimistic that Bangladesh’s people would live in harmony in the future because of their strong spirit and unity. On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they were in communication with US officials and were waiting on more information on a Pakistani national’s purported involvement in an American assassination plan.
“We have seen the media reports.” We are waiting on more information while maintaining contact with US officials. In a statement on behalf of the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said, “We have also noted the statements by US officials that this is an ongoing investigation.”
Answering questions from the media, she added that the administration wanted to be certain of the person’s background before making any official comments.
