ISLAMABAD: The government would not allow any cross-border terrorism, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Wednesday in response to recent clashes on the Pakistan-Afghan border. Eight persons were slain by Pakistani “intelligence-based anti-terrorist operations” in the early hours of Monday in the Afghan provinces of Khost and Paktika, according to the interim Afghan administration. The Hafiz Gul Bahadur group was the target of the strikes, according to the Foreign Office, which confirmed them. The group had previously attacked security troops in North Waziristan, killing seven soldiers.
Afghanistan forces retaliated to the airstrikes by using heavy weaponry, like as mortars, to target troops in Kurram and North Waziristan, which are located over the border. Except for the Angoor Adda border, firearms were silent on both sides of the frontier on Tuesday, which was comparatively calmer. Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes in Iran earlier this year in response to the latter’s operations in Pakistan, which were directed at what it claimed to be camps for the militant group Jaish al-Adl in the border town of Panjgur, Balochistan.
Today, PM Shehbaz declared, “We will not tolerate any kind of terrorism from across the border,” while speaking to the federal apex committee. Under no circumstances.” The committee began the meeting by praying for the victims of the attack in North Waziristan last week. The prime minister mentioned that terrorism has claimed thousands of lives. Regretfully, terrorism has unfortunately surfaced once more. In actuality, our warriors and martyrs are sacrificing their lives to eradicate terrorism despite such enormous sacrifices and resources being used, PM Shehbaz stated.
The prime minister cited the father of Captain Ahmed Badar, 23, as stating, “Prime minister, terrorism must be eradicated,” recalling his visit to the relatives of the martyrs. I also informed him that we can no longer put up with this terrorism. The prime minister declared, “Pakistan’s borders are a red line against terrorism.” “It is unacceptable if a neighbor’s land is used for terrorist activities. We wish to live in a very peaceful environment with our neighboring brothers, trade, and develop our relations.” “Nearby countries” should “come and sit,” according to Prime Minister Shehbaz, to “work towards eradicating it” and develop a strategy against terrorism. “I’m hoping our neighbor will give my invitation some serious thought,” he continued.
