ISLAMABAD: The federal government reduced the price of gasoline on Friday by Rs 4.74 per litre for the ensuing two weeks. The Finance Ministry lowered the price of gasoline by Rs 4.74 per litre and diesel by Rs 3.86 per litre following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s assent. The new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 268.36 per litre, a drop of Rs 4.74. High-speed diesel (HSD) now costs Rs 270.94 a litre, a reduction of Rs 3.86. The federal government cut the price of gasoline earlier on May 15 by Rs15.39 a litre for the ensuing two weeks.
Details indicate that with consent from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Finance Ministry lowered the cost of petroleum goods. A notification released here states that the new price of petrol has been set at Rs 273.1 per litre, which is a drop of Rs 15.39. High-speed diesel (HSD) now costs Rs 274.8 per litre, negating a Rs 7.88 price increase. Light fuel now only costs Rs 161.17 per litre after a reduction of Rs 7.54 per liter. From Rs 9.86 per liter to Rs 173.48 per litre, kerosene oil is now less expensive.
