GAWADAR: A relief package worth Rs 2 million apiece for the families of the deceased, Rs 0.5 million for the injured, and Rs 750,000 for those whose houses were destroyed was launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday for residents of Balochistan’s rain-stricken areas. Arriving here the very day after taking office, the prime minister informed the media that the government would also compensate the families whose houses were partially destroyed by the torrential rains of February 26 with Rs. 350,000 after seeing the districts hit by the flooding.
He gave the assurance that the government would not abandon the suffering people until they were returned to their homes while accompanied by Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, and lawmakers Jam Kamal Khan and Atta Tarar. Though no casualties were recorded in Gwadar, he was informed at the briefing that five individuals had died in rain-related accidents throughout Balochistan.
Assuring the grieving families that the compensation package would be implemented within four days, the prime minister expressed sympathy. As Sarfaraz Bugti headed to the devastated districts shortly after taking an oath and oversaw the relief and rescue activities, the prime minister praised him for his efforts. This isn’t a favor exchange. As prime minister, it is my responsibility and the responsibility of the recently elected administration. He said, “This is not a favoritism or a show-off.” Along with praising their efforts, Prime Minister Shehbaz suggested that the Chief Minister give medals and appreciation certificates to the members of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Coastal Guards, PDMA, and NDMA.
The coalition government at the time of the 2022 floods, he recalled, had given out Rs 100 billion to the affected citizens throughout the nation. The afflicted individuals received food, blankets, water coolers, and other relief supplies earlier in the day, along with checks from the prime minister. He addressed the victims, saying, “You are our sisters and brothers.” It is my mission to reassure you that the government will not abandon you. You have our support. When you are destitute, how could I sit in Islamabad?
Recessing water and improving conditions in the cities were reported to the prime minister. There were reportedly pharmaceuticals accessible for the homeless and water filtering facilities installed.
