ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vehemently denounced Israel’s heinous acts against defenseless Palestinians in Gaza and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unshakable support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.
During a meeting with the departing Palestinian Ambassador, Ahmed Jawad A.A. Rabei, the prime minister stated that since October 7, 2023, Israel’s savagery has resulted in the heartbreaking deaths of over 40,000 innocent Palestinians, including women and children, and more than 90,000 injuries.
In line with pertinent UN resolutions, he reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to and support for efforts to establish an independent state of Palestine with pre-1967 borders and Al Quds as its capital as part of a two-state solution to the Palestine issue.
Ambassador Jawad expressed gratitude to the prime minister for his hospitality during his five-year term in office and for his support of the Palestinian cause. He praised Pakistan’s long-standing and steadfast position on Palestine as well as its involvement in global initiatives to promote stability and peace in the area.
The Palestinian medical students who were awarded scholarships to finish their studies in Pakistan by the Pakistani government were also recognized by the ambassador for their much-needed humanitarian aid. The prime minister wished the ambassador from Palestine all the best in his future undertakings.
