ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) suspended two top executives, accusing them of being careless and failing to ensure transparency in the purchase of wheat. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued the suspensions. As the prime minister presided over a high-level meeting to assess wheat procurement by the federal government and its supply and demand, he issued an order suspending Passco’s general manager and managing director for procurement. The Prime Minister further directed Passco to acquire an extra 400,000 metric tonnes of wheat and demanded a third-party assessment of the company’s inventory.
The prime minister reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting the growth of Balochistan. He stated, “The government is providing equal opportunities for education and employment to the youth of the province to enable them to contribute to its development,” during a meeting to address the issues in Balochistan. Chief Minister of Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti, Minister of Planning Zahoor Ahmed Bilidi, and other officials were present during the meeting.
In a previous interview, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed the government’s emphasis on achieving economic advancement through extensive reforms and structural adjustments on the Saudi state-owned television channel Al Arabiya. “Great structural adjustments and reforms are what my government is fully committed to implementing. If we don’t make progress in that direction, it will be a pointless endeavor with unsatisfactory outcomes. He declared, “We are fully committed to implementing the reform agenda.
