ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a wind, thunderstorm, and rain forecast for the nation on Friday beginning in the evening or night of June 18, Eid-ul-Azha’s second day. Beginning on June 18, the Arabian Sea’s moist currents are anticipated to reach the country’s upper and central regions. On June 18, a shallow westerly wave was also probably headed toward the country’s western regions. In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, thunderstorms and showers are predicted for Friday evening and into Saturday morning. On June 16 and 17, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are expected to see hot, dry weather. Between June 18 and 22, sporadic breaks, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) and Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur).
Kashmir is also anticipated to get a few strong falls during that time. Thunderstorm rain is predicted on Friday evening and Saturday morning in the following Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities: Dir, Swat, Malakand, Bajaur, Kohistan, Chitral, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, and Waziristan. From June 16–18, scorching and dry weather is predicted in the province’s southern regions. From June 18 (night) to June 22 (with sporadic breaks), rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan, Kurram, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.
Dust and thunderstorm-like rain are predicted for Punjab and Islamabad on Friday evening and into Saturday morning in the following locations: Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujranwala. Most of the province is expected to experience extremely hot and dry weather from June 16–18. From June 18 (evening/night) to June 22 (occasionally with breaks), rain-wind, thundershower, and dust storm (with a few heavyfalls) are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, and Mianwali.
Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan, and Layyah are also predicted to have rain, wind, thundershowers, and duststorms from June 20 to 22. In Balochistan, very hot and dry weather is likely in most parts of the province from June 16-18. Duststorm and thunderstorms with rain is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Kohlu, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, and Barkhan from June 20-22.
In Sindh, very hot and dry weather is likely in most parts of the province from June 17 to 20. Dust storms and gusty winds with isolated rain-thunderstorms are expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Larkana on June 21 and June 22. About the possible impacts, the PMD said that dust storms windstorms, and lightning might affect daily routines, loose structures like electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels, etc during the period. Very hot weather conditions are likely to subside from June 19 to 22. All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation.
The extremely hot weather is probably going to break between June 19 and June 22. It is recommended that the relevant authorities stay vigilant and take appropriate action to prevent any unfortunate incident.
