ISLAMABAD: Prince Rahim Aga Khan received the Nishan-i-Pakistan award from President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday in honor of his outstanding contributions to the advancement, prosperity, and well-being of Pakistan and its people. At a special investiture ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Senator Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, federal ministers, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, legislators, diplomats, and senior government executives were present to present Prince Rahim Aga Khan with the highest civilian award. As per the citation presented during the event, Prince Rahim Aga Khan has devoted his tireless efforts to raising the standard of living for individuals residing in resource-poor regions of Asia and Africa for over 25 years, through his various leadership roles within the Aga Khan Development Network.
Prince Rahim has left a lasting legacy by making significant contributions to the cultural, educational, health, and economic well-being of underprivileged and marginalized populations. According to what was said, the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development has pushed ground-breaking projects in Pakistan’s insurance, microfinance, commercial banking, sustainable tourism, and renewable energy sectors under his direction. In Pakistan, the Fund has made financial services accessible to about 50 million people. In addition to kindly helping the people of Pakistan in the wake of the devastating floods of 2022, Prince Rahim Aga Khan has led the establishment of environmental stewardship policies and best practices to address climate change issues as the Founding Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network’s Climate and Environment Committee. The founding of Pakistan, the All India Muslim League, and the Aga Khan family’s contributions to the Muslim community in India were also emphasized.
