ISLAMABAD: Following 201 members of the National Assembly voting in favor of him, Shehbaz Sharif, the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was elected prime minister of Pakistan here on Sunday. Shehbaz Sharif received 201 votes, while Omar Ayub Khan of the Sunni Ittehad Council received 92, according to the figures released by the Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Shehbaz Sharif took office as Pakistan’s prime minister on official recognition by the Speaker. He then requested that Shehbaz Sharif assume the role of Prime Minister/Leader of the House in the National Assembly. Through the division of the House, the prime minister was chosen.
