Sher Afzal Marwat, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has announced that he will personally oversee the organization of any upcoming demonstrations and rallies and will take full responsibility in the case that anything akin to what happened on May 9. After meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Sher Afzal spoke to the media outside of Adiala Jail and disclosed that he had been given the task of planning a rally, which is scheduled to take place on August 22.
He made it clear that he would not be consulting Imran Khan in any plans, therefore he would be fully accountable for any fallout from the events. Sher Afzal also revealed that he had met with Imran Khan recently the first in three months and they had discussed several issues.
He said that all internal party disputes had been settled at Imran Khan’s request and that he had apologized to everyone who had been offended. Sher Afzal further stated that Barrister Gohar and Ali Amin should be contacted with any concerns regarding his leadership.
He reaffirmed that he would lead nonviolent demonstrations and urged PTI followers to get involved in the campaign against the present political environment, especially students, attorneys, and farmers.
