The governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, has declared that he will write a letter to the provincial government asking them to lower Sindh’s power bills in line with Punjab’s relief. Tessori underlined at a news conference in Karachi, that the people of Sindh should receive the same relief that Punjab has received a reduction of Rs14 per unit in power bills.
He declared, “There will be a sense of deprivation if the people of Sindh do not receive the same relief in their electricity bills as Punjab.” Tessori disclosed that he is currently writing a letter to the government of Sindh, imploring them to set aside money to bring down electricity costs in the region.
The announcement on the reduction of energy costs in Punjab by Rs 4 per unit for two months was made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif two days prior. Customers that use 500 units or less of power are the target audience for this relief.
Tessori emphasized the urgency of providing relief and the destruction inflicted by the recent rains in Sindh’s interior regions. Along with his intention to personally visit these locations to evaluate the situation, he announced that ration bags are being supplied to the impacted areas.
