ISLAMABAD: The federal government is prepared to roll out smart policing in Islamabad gradually. In a meeting chaired by Federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday, the decision was taken regarding the upgrading of Islamabad police stations at the Ministry of Interior. He gave the order to upgrade the police stations in the nation’s capital according to the smart police station model.
According to him, traditional police stations have come to represent fear, and people consider their options carefully before going to them. He claimed to have personally visited police stations and seen firsthand the appalling conditions there. Mr. Naqvi highlighted that Islamabad was a representation of Pakistan and that prompt implementation of intelligent policing was necessary to turn it into a world-class city. He assured that all resources will be made accessible to smart police stations. He said that individuals from courteous and knowledgeable police units would work in smart police stations. He gave the order to move quickly with the plan, stating that an affordable, high-quality design needed to be ready for the upgrade.
Police stations would be relocated into rented premises as part of the change, according to the interior minister. He emphasized that only young individuals who are fit, educated, and meet the merit requirements would be chosen for the police and that there would be no compromise on merit. He emphasized how important it is to behave differently toward complainants. High-ranking officials, including DIG Operations, CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, and Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha, were present during the meeting.
