ISLAMABAD: The country will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday with typical enthusiasm, according to the announcement made by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, on Tuesday. This is because the moon of Shawwal-ul-Mukarram has been observed in several locations throughout the nation. Speaking at a news conference with his colleagues from the Central and Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, he stated that they had received several reports of people seeing the moon on Shawwal-ul-Mukarram from throughout the nation.
Maulana Azad remarked that the committee came to the unanimous decision that the first Shawwal-ul-Mukarram, 1445 AH, will fall on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, after considering all testimony concerning the moon sighting within the framework of Shariah. He prayed sincerely for the nation’s peace, prosperity, and advancement before concluding his speech. He also asked God to intervene on behalf of the innocent people of Palestine and the Indian illegally occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir, who have been making countless sacrifices in the hopes of receiving appropriate compensation.
At the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, a crucial meeting of the national moon sighting body was convened to ascertain the sighting of the Shawwal-ul-Mukarram moon. Renowned representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) attended the meeting, which was chaired by Maulana Azad.
Directors general of the Religious Affairs Ministry Syed Mushahid Hussain Khalid and other dignitaries including Maulana Muhammad Yasin Zafar, Mufti Fazl Jamil Rizvi, and Allama Muhammad Dr. Hussain Akbar were among the distinguished guests. Contributions to the discussions were made by Zone members from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar.
