According to a spokesman for the flag carrier on Thursday, Pakistani airlines, including PIA, are waiting for the refurbishment of the airport’s infrastructure in Dubai. PIA will quickly start operating again as soon as things get better. Runways at Dubai International Airport have been seriously impacted by the three days of nonstop rainstorms in the United Arab Emirates. 22 flights from Pakistan to Dubai have been canceled since April 16 due to severe weather in Dubai and Sharjah, according to a PIA official.
A spokesperson stated that additional aircraft were being scheduled to return passengers who were stranded in Dubai. He added that passengers on canceled flights will be given priority seating on the next available flights. ASF is taking action against the staff who mistreated the child, according to the CAA chief, who holds an e-kutchery. He advised those who had their flights canceled to get flight information by calling the PIA call center. As for the rain-related scenario in the UAE, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) Director General Khaqan Murtaza called it “unprecedented” during his speech at an e-kutchery. He explained the disruptions to record rainfall in the United Arab Emirates, which caused airport floods and mayhem in flight operations, in response to a question concerning recent flight delays to and from the Middle East.
On Thursday, Mr. Murtaza presided over the 44th e-kutchery. During the session, he and his colleagues received 67 comments or inquiries about various topics, such as corroded trolleys, the expansion of Allama Iqbal International (AIIAP) Airport, allegations of bribery and extortion at airports, HR-related matters, and flight cancellations caused by weather in the United Arab Emirates. He clarified that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the prime minister had discussed the issue of the long immigration lines at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport (JIAP). The FIA was assigned 20 counters by the CAA, and the agency’s inability to staff these counters effectively was causing the long lines. He added that the FIA claims that the lines will drastically shorten if it resolves its personnel issues.
The Airport Security Force (ASF) has taken action against an employee who was involved in the mistreatment of a kid at JIAP, according to the DG’s confirmation. The PCAA is pursuing this with the ASF. The DG stated that although steps have been taken to accommodate the increasing number of travelers, Lahore’s AIIAP is operating at capacity. Additionally, he gave the Islamabad International Airport (IIAP) manager instructions to look into a report of claimed police or police traffic wardens extorting money from people in the parking lot. The DG emphasized that food pricing at the Islamabad airport must correspond with the price list in response to another complaint.
