ISLAMABAD: The Vietnamese ambassador’s wife was discovered at a restaurant on Saturday, four hours after she vanished, according to authorities. The ambassador called the police helpline at around midday and reported that his wife had been missing for the past hour, according to police spokesman Taqi Jawad, who spoke with Dawn. Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and other authorities approached the ambassador’s home at F-8. The diplomat reported to the authorities that his spouse had left for a beauty parlor and would be back in an hour. It was discovered later that she had left her handbag and cell phone inside the house.
Three teams—SP City, SDPO Margalla, DIG operations, and SSP operations—were assembled to find the ambassador’s wife. Two teams at malls searched her, and a third squad looked through the Safe City Authority video. The woman could be seen walking out of her house and into F-9 Park in the video. As soon as the cops arrived, they began searching the park both inside and outside. One of the teams later discovered her by herself, seated in a café. The senior police officials were notified when her images were verified. After being taken to the restaurant by a police team, the ambassador was able to identify her. The pair was thereafter driven to their home.
According to the PRO, there was no clear explanation for her leaving the house without her purse or cell phone and spending hours in the restaurant. The police will now pursue legal action and interview the couple. The matter was previously brought to the attention of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who also got in touch with the police chief and gave him instructions to take all necessary steps to ensure the diplomat’s wife’s safe return.
