Introduction:
NA-33 is a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan, encompassing the entire district of Hangu. Previously designated as NA-16 (Hangu) from 1977 to 2018, it was renamed NA-33 (Hangu) after the delimitation in 2018. Following the delimitation in 2022, NA-36 (Hangu-cum-Orakzai) now also includes Orakzai District.Hangu is primarily inhabited by the Bangash Afghans. The district derives its name from the administrative center, the town of Hangu. Occasionally, the term “Hangu” may also refer to the Miranzai Valley, which lies partially within the district and shares a border with the Samana Range.

Popularity Reason: The Samana Range is a mountain ridge located in the Hangu. It serves as the southern boundary of Tirah and spans approximately 30 miles westward from Hangu to the Samana Suk. With an elevation ranging from 6000 to 7000 feet, the ridge separates the Khanki Valley to the north from the Miranzai Valley to the south.

Candidates in GE2018 from NA-33 included Khial Zaman, Atiq Ur Rahman, Rangeen Khan, Muhammad Imran, Ulfat Hussain, Syed Haidar Ali Shah, Hussain Jalali, Khaliq ur Rehman, Sultan Akbar, Akhtar Muneer Bangash, Taj Muhammad, Arif Hussain, and Malik Riaz Bangish. Haji Khial Zaman Orakzai emerged as the elected MNA from N.A-33 District Hangu in the general election 2018. However, due to the unfortunate demise of elected M.N.A Khayal Zaman Orakzai, the constituency NA-33 Hangu became vacant, leading to a by-election in NA-33 Hangu.
