A long-standing rivalry between two competing gangs resulted in an ambush in Mianwali on Thursday that left at least three dead and six injured, according to police. Mianwali District Police Officer (DPO) Matiullah Jan claims that the attack was carried out as payback for a double murder that happened 1.5 years prior. According to DPO Jan, the shootout victims—who were accused of double murder—were ambushed as they were leaving an Isakhel sessions court hearing. The Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Usman Anwar, ordered the raids, according to the DPO, during which six individuals were taken into custody and their firearms seized.
The DPO stated that “the fugitives will be arrested soon” regarding the two suspects who were still at large. IGP Anwar has asked the Sargodha Regional Police Officer (RPO) for a report on the event. A Punjab police spokeswoman stated that the Mianwali DPO has been directed to look into every facet of the incident. The IGP declared, “A special team should be formed to arrest the accused as soon as possible.” “Justice should be served to the victims’ families as soon as possible.” Anger led to a man’s shooting death in the Bachchan Ahmadzai neighborhood of the Lakki Marwat district last month.
