ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was tasked on Wednesday by Mohsin Naqvi, the recently appointed Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, to demonstrate its effectiveness by capturing large fish. Having been the caretaker chief minister of Punjab for a while, Mr. Naqvi was well-known for his quick work. After taking over as chief minister, he visited the two ministries that reported to him and also had in-depth briefings at the FIA headquarters.
“The Minister addressed officials of the nation’s top investigative agency, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and stated that the agency is crucial to national security and that we must raise it to international standards.” The interior minister released policy recommendations, stating that the FIA must be heavily involved in preventing the sale of counterfeit medications, theft of electricity, the trafficking of people, illegal cash transactions, and the smuggling of dollars overseas. He gave the order to finish all outstanding promotion cases at the FIA in less than 30 days.
Senior ministry officials and Interior Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani greeted the minister upon his arrival. The interior minister chaired a crucial meeting following a thorough introduction with the key officers. A thorough briefing on the Interior Ministry and its affiliates was given to him. As to the interior ministry’s statement, Mohsin Naqvi promised to guarantee the safety and tranquility of the nation’s citizens.
Afterwards, Federal Secretary retired Capt. Munir Azam gave him an overview of the Ministry of Narcotics Control’s operations during his visit. The minister made the decision to keep just one office in the interior ministry and to forgo using his office in the drugs control ministry. The interior ministry released a statement quoting the minister as stating, “One office is enough for me and the other one would be a waste of resources.” Additionally, he gave the order to transfer his employees from that office to various ministry divisions.
