Holi is celebrated throughout Pakistan on Monday, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Hindu community on the occasion, urging people to “celebrate our differences as strengths” throughout the day. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) released a statement in which Shehbaz expressed his felicitations to the Hindu community on the auspicious occasion of Holi, also known as the festival of colors. “As citizens of Pakistan, we are proud of the diverse racial, cultural, linguistic, and religious makeup of our nation,” he declared.
“On this day, let us commemorate our differences as strengths and celebrate them with resolve,” he continued. As spring approaches, the prime minister also wished for “new beginnings, hope, and happiness to us all.” The event represents the victory of good over evil, according to President Asif Ali Zardari. Religious freedom was protected by the Constitution, he added in a statement published by state broadcaster Radio Pakistan.
According to the statement, he said, “People of all religions make up Pakistan, which is a beautiful bouquet of them.” Greetings for “everyone celebrating a joyful and colorful Holi” were posted on X by the Foreign Office. Also expressing her congratulations to the community was Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. She also revealed a program that would benefit the community “on the occasion of Holi,” promising Rs. 10,000 to 700 “Hindu families in the province.” She declared, “The Holi festival will lead to the promotion of tolerance, peace, and brotherhood in the country,” stressing the equality of rights enjoyed by all minorities in the nation. Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the PML-N and a former premier, also wished everyone a happy Holi on his social media account on X.
